<p>The plastics floor pan for a car has a simple panel moulding with the edge supports formed as hollow sections for strength and rigidity. For weight saving the bottom of the hollow section (7) is formed as part of the floor panel while the top of the section is a clip-on metal pressing (13). The two part structure provides a low weight support with the corrosion resistant plastics on the outside. The metal is clipped to the plastics moulding using flanges (33,11) in the edge of the moulding gripping slots in the metal. Adhesive bonds (37) provide the final, watertight seal.</p> |
