The hot-air stove comprises an insert enclosed by a casing, incorporating a number of prefabricated casing sections (16,18) assembled together on site. Each of these comprises a metal frame (24,26), to which supporting casing plates (28,30) of heat-resistant material are fitted flush. Ceramic plates (30) are secured to the casing plates by heat-resistant adhesive. At the joints between the segments, the ceramic plate edges can be set back for half the width of a seam from the joint. The casing plates can be of asbestos cement.
