A building panel or sheet for surface heating, i.e. underfloor, wall or ceiling heating systems, comprises insulating material and an anchorage layer through which pipe fixings pass for attaching the heating pipes. This anchorage layer is formed of a continuous plastics sheet (I) possessing high impact strength and toughness. Pref. (I) has a large number of indentations formed in it, more specifically by deep-drawing or embossing, and these indentations are in a regular pattern. (I) is pref. bonded to the panel, which itself is of plastics foam, pref. foamed into the facing sheet. (I) may be a thermal radiation reflector, esp. of polyethylene, while the panel is of polyurethane foam. A continuous panel or sheet possessing thermal insulating properties is obtained, without the expense of Al and having a greater strength than mesh or perforated sheet. The tough polyethylene facing sheet is easily punctured in order to fit the pipe fixings, but otherwise is unperforated and prevents passage of moisture through the panel.
|
