<p>The rectifier bridge with a motor as a load, which can also act as a generator, has an input which can be the secondary winding of a mains transformer. This forms part of a rectifier bridge with a thyristor in each of its four arms. The motor is connected across the bridge in series with a choke coil. In parallel with the bridge are two quenching thyristors in series with two quenching capacitors. In parallel with the two capacitors are two charging diodes in series with a charging resistance. For feedback, the bridge is fully controlled, with two thyristors in diagonally opposite branches first fired. The other thyristor of one of the pairs of thyristors is excited after a time which can vary, to form an additional main branch of a free running circuit. With the ignition of a quenching thyristor the parallel branch is cut off, and the remaining thyristor is fired to form the second diagonal of the bridge for the next half wave.</p> |
