The connector has several rows of contacts passing through an insulating body and a protective shroud around it. Built into the walls of the shroud are holes, each of which is elongated to form a guide to a corresponding contact within the plug. A probe may be inserted through these holes to make measurements without disconnecting the plug. The angle of the holes to the plane of the connection lies between 35 and 80 degrees. The pins in the centre of the plug are longer than those in the outer rows. The probe has a conical tip and is protected when not in use by a short insulating sleeve. |
