A seal ring (70) loosely surrounding a kiln shell (16) and adapted to walk along the shell into engagement with a stationary housing wear plate (45) is assembled from segments (70 A, B etc) each incorporating a pack of shims (87) allowing adjustment of the diameter of the ring, the segments being pivotally interconnected to accommodate any out-of-round portions of the shell. In an alternative arrangement, the connecting plates are secured to the segments by bolts received in slotted holes in the segments to avoid the need for shims. <IMAGE> |
