PURPOSE:To prepare the titled feed having improved bait state without collapsing in water, by adding a mixture of xanthan gum and locust bean gum to boiled minced earthworms, feeding the blend to a metallic can, seaming the can, followed by sterilization under heating. CONSTITUTION:Bred earthworms (mainly red worms) are minced by a chopper, and, for example, boiled at a temperature upto 95 deg.C. 100pts.wt. boiled minced earthworms are blended fully with 0.5-1.5pts.wt. mixture of xanthan gum and locust bean gum in a weight ratio of 1:1. The blend is then fed to a metallic can, e.g., tin, for example, subjected to vacuum steaming, heated at not lower than 115 deg.C for more than 30min, and sterilized, to give the desired feed for rearing elvers in their early stage. |
