PURPOSE:To control fuel injection to suit the operational condition of an internal combustion engine, by changing the rate and the period of fuel injection easily through provision of a plurality of fuel supply passages communicated to a pump chamber of a distributor type fuel injection pump, and disposing a control valve in some of said fuel supply passages. CONSTITUTION:In a pump housing 3, there is provided a plunger 7 which is slidable in a plunger barrel 6. Rotation and reciprocation of the plunger 7 is caused by a cam disk 8 so as to compress fuel in a pump chamber 11. Further, the plunger 7 is formed with a port 7b communicated to an injection valve 16, ports 7c controlled by a control sleeve 12, and ports 7d communicated to a suction chamber 4 via a plurality of fuel supply passages 17, 18. At a portion of the fuel supply passage 17, there is provided a valve 19 which is opened and closed in response to the operational condition of the engine for controlling fuel supply to the pump chamber 11. |
