The operating table has a supporting plate for the patient which can be set in several different positions. The plate (1) is overhung from its support column (2), and has covering layers of composite material containing carbon or synthetic organic fibres, joined to a plastics foam core and lateral frame members. Thus the portion of the plate supporting the patient is free of metal supports and permeable to X-rays for its entire length. The frame members (4) can be of box-section and so mounted on a column at one end of the plate that the latter can be turned in any direction. |
