The burner has a casing (1) having an outlet nozzle (4), an inner tube (5) for supplying oxidizing agent which is disposed centrally within the casing (1) and has a nozzle (6) surrounded by nozzle (4), and at least one helically coiled tubular element (7) for supplying pulverized coal arranged between the tube (5) and the casing (1), the or each element (7) passing through an internal partition (10) bridging the tube (5) and casing (1) and terminating tangentially in a turbulence chamber (9), which chamber (9) is defined between the nozzles (4) and (6) and bounded by the partition (10).
