PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber having improved color fastness to rubbing and coloring properties inexpensively, by subjecting polyester fibers containing inactive inorganic particles consisting essentially of aluminum oxide-containing silicon oxide to alkali fusion treatment. CONSTITUTION:A polyester fiber comprising 0.1-4wt%, preferably 0.3-2wt% aluminum oxide-containing silicon oxygen by dry method having 0.1-5wt%, preferably 0.3-2wt% aluminum oxide and average primary particle diameter not more than 100mu, preferably not more than 40mu, having not than 70mol% based on total acid component terephthalic acid, is subjected to alkali fusion treatment, to give the desired fibers. The alkali fusion treatment is carried out by heating the fibers in an aqueous solution, e.g., caustic soda, to make preferably a percentage loss of weight 5-30wt%. |
