发明名称 METHOD FOR THERMAL BEND STRAIGHTENING OF CONTINUOUSLY CAST INGOT
摘要 PURPOSE:To decrease the reaction of straightening to be exerted upon bend straightening rolls by covering the outer edge surface and the lower half parts of both side faces of a continuously cast ingot of steel on the upper stream side of a bend straightening area of a conveying route thereby heat insulating the same. CONSTITUTION:At the time when a continuously cast ingot 3 is cooled in a spray cooling zone 5 and is mechanically straightened to a straight shape in a bend straightening area A, a heat insulation cover 6 covering the outer edge surface 3a and the lower half parts of both side faces 3c of the ingot 3 is disposed in the part of (b) on the upper stream side of the area A. The ingot 3 in the part (b) assumes higher temp. as the outer edge surface 3a is insulated from the inner edge surface 3b, then the outer edge surface 3a tries to bend toward the inner edge surface 3b, thereby producing a creep strain and generating potential bending capacity in the ingot 3. This comes to the straightening area A, where the outer edge surface 3a thermally shrinks larger than the inner edge surface 3b, by which the reaction of straightening exerted upon straightening rolls 415-420 is decreased and the ingot is straightened naturally to a straight shape.
