PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive nonpoisonous electrophotographic sensitive material with wide spectral sensitivity by dissolving or dispersing thermally decomposed polyacrylonitrile or a thermally decomposed acrylonitrile copolymer in a solvent followed by coating onto an electrically conductive support. CONSTITUTION:A polymer having conjugated double bonds and represented by formula I or II is produced by thermally decomposing polyacrylonitrile or an acrylonitrile copolymer. At least one kind of such a polymer is dissolved or dispersed in a solvent to prepare a photoconductive composition. This composition is then coated onto an electrically conductive support to form a photoconductive layer. Thus, an electrophotographic sensitive material is obtd. The mole weight of the polyacrylonitrile or acrylonitrile copolymer is preferably about 10,000-300,000. |
