The solar or acoustic energy collector uses reflecting walls to direct received rays down a long and relatively narrow enclosure with the heating or receiving surface at the opposite end to the opening. The structure, in contrast to the open flat format of conventional collectors, gives areduction in reflected and convection losses from the receiving surface. The collector may include a neck half way along its length to further reduce convection losses and losses by reflection from the heating surface. The collectors are grouped together in an assembly of small units and mounted on a tracking platform. Various geometric configurations of both the collectors and the receiving surface may be employed, all retaining the property of reduced losses.
|
