The invention relates to a device for distributing bottle caps having a chain, which is composed of successive shapes, starting with a chute in which the said caps are stacked. The object of the invention is to improve a distributing device in such a way that it satisfies the various practical requirements more effectively than has been the case hitherto. The object is achieved in that the device includes a rotating drum with arms, the ends of which are set in such a way that they are able to pick up and deposit a bottle cap, and also means for moving each arm so that its end can remove a bottle cap from the stack and move it in accordance with its geometrical axis, further means for modifying the positions of the arms so that the bottle caps can be easily inserted into the shapes and yet other means which are provided to ensure that a bottle cap cannot be deposited in a shape which still contains another cap which has not been placed on a bottle.
