The in-line electron gun assembly(10) for a color T.V. picture tube has a center cathode(12) disposed between two outer cathodes(14)(16). The cathodes are coplanar and each is supported at a predetermined distance from a control grid by a separate cathode support structure(26)(38). Each cathode support structure includes a cathode eyelet. The center cathode eyelet is formed of a material having a smaller coefficient of thermal expansion than that of the two outer cathode eyelets so that the variations in cathode-to-grid spacing due to temp. changes during warm-up are kept equal from cathode to cathode.
