The instrument measures the depth of non-debouching scarifications or non-traversant incisions during opthalmo-surgical operations. It comprises a V-shaped component, one arm of which is fixed to an oblong handle, while the other arm is at an angle of between 10 and 75 degrees to the lengthwise axis of the handle. The free end of the latter arm lies on this axis. The latter arm has circumferential striations (8,9) formed in it which define a ridge between them. These striations act as measuring indicia.
