Monitor system for vehicle rear field of view - uses optical or electro-optical devices to give large field of view

The system has a monitor showing up to 360 degrees of the field of view behind the vehicle by optical or electro-optical means. The monitor may consist of a fluorescent or phosphorescent screen optically coupled to one or more photoreceptors. The optical system may comprise a suitable combination of lenses, prisms and/or mirrors. If the system is electro-optical, the optical signals are converted into electrical signals for sending to the monitor.
