The collector rail arrangement for a switching system, partic. for motor control has main rails (1) connected to or three phase supply, and collector rails (3) at right angles to them. Switching positions can then be arranged at various positions along the collector rails. Mounted on a base plate (5) at each position are rear fuse contacts projecting upwards to receive fuses. Spaced from them are vertical front contacts (9). The front contacts are mounted on the horizontal parts of L shaped connectors (10) which are shaped at the bottom (11) to play onto the main rails below. Under the base plate are suspended plug-in contacts (13) for the collector rails, these contacts being shorter than the other connectors (10).
