The amplifier comprises two transistors (T1,T2) which receive the input signal (Ue) in parallel and in phase. One path (T2) is connected to the control voltage (UR), the other to a fixed threshold voltage (U1). The two transistor paths have dissimilar loading resistors (R1,R2). For a desired amplification ratio of Delta V = Vmax-Vmin. the loading resistors are chosen with the same ratio. The loading resistors may be either directly connected to the transistor circuit, or transformer coupled with different ratios to a single load. If the threshold voltage is higher than the control voltage the first path (T1) conducts, the larger load (R1+2) is in circuit, and the gain is maximum. The other transistor is blocked. As the voltages approach equality both circuits conduct and the gain falls off. When the control voltage is significantly the higher only the second transistor (T2) conducts. The lower resistor (R2) is in circuit and the gain is minimum.
|
