Ski brake made as U=shaped bow - has linkage to heel down holder housing part of ski binding and acts automatically on removal of boot

The ski brake has a 'U' shaped bow which has a swivel linkage to the housing capable of being swivelled up forming part of a heel down holder of a ski binding. The 'U'shaped bow is swivelled into the operating position against spring pressure by the insertion of the ski boot into the heel down holder. When the ski boot is removed the bow is swivelled into the braking position by the action of the spring, in which the legs of the bow project beyond the lower side of the ski. A screw spring is fitted to each leg of the bow and the housing of the heel down holder (2) has an opening on each side for the insertion of the screw springs which are fixed inside the openings with their free ends.
