Rubbing strip for car bumper - has hollow profile with metal strip insert slotted at bends

The rubbing strip for fitting along the length of a car bumper has an extruded C-profile plastic strip with a metal strip insert (6) for reinforcement. The strip flanges are slotted (9) in bending places to enable the strip to be fitted to curved sections of the bumper without modifications. The metal insert strip is unmodified for the straight sections and can be made of a thin section for weight saving. The slots are machined after the strip is extruded and can be tapered to fit the bends. The inner edges of the strip flanges have elastic lips to lie against the bumper.
