Combustible munition components formed from fibrous slurries - by feeding different compositions of slurry to different parts of mandrel

The parent patent described a method of making combustible munition mouldings from cellulose, nitrocellulose, synthetic fibres, plastics binders or the like, esp. with addition of nitropenta or hexogen; a fibrous non-woven moulding is formed using a mandrel pushed into an aqueous slurry of the components in a closed vessel. In the addition, slurries containing the components and having different compositions are supplied to different zones on the mandrel. Pref., two or more slurries of different compositions are used along the length of the moulding or, alternatively, are used over the entire length but in different regions of its skin thickness. By using an open mould good results can be obtd. at greatly reduced cost.
