Disclosed is a magnetic recording medium having a base (10), a first magnetic layer (12) formed on the base (10), and a second magnetic layer (14) formed on the first magnetic layer (12). The magnetic recording medium further comprises a third magnetic layer (16) formed on the second magnetic layer (14). The third magnetic layer has a predetermined thickness (t4ave) to cover surface roughness of the second magnetic layer (16) and functions as a protection layer for the second magnetic layer (14). |
