<p>The engine has a magnetically operated relief fitted either in the cylinder head or in the inlet manifold. The valve is connected to a supply of filtered air which can also contain lubricants. Under part load, the fuel supply to one or more of the cylinders is cut off for max. economy. The magnetically operated valve is then opened to avoid pressure fluctuations in the cylinder arising from the movement of the piston.</p> |
