The elastic fixing device secures an item with a high coefficient of expansion to a base. It comprises an expanding body (1) consisting of a baseplate resting on the mounting surface (6) and a top surface suitable for securing permanently to the item (7), while between them are a number of inwards-curving struts (4) at regular intervals and having a degree of elasticity, joined to the edge of the baseplate. The device can be in one piece. There can be three evenly spaced struts, and the baseplate can have a device for securing it to the mounting surface.
