Connection sleeve for optical cables - has internal rigid frame with pockets receiving individual coupled pairs of conductors

The sleeve comprises a moisture sealed plastics housing (1) with an internal frame (2) of a mechanically rigid material contacting the internal wall of the housing (7). The frame (2) has fixing points for attachment of the cable ends and defines a number of flat pockets (4) each of which receives two light conductors (11,12) running parallel to one another and a coupling element extending between them. Pref. the latter pockets (4) have a rectangular cross-section with two angled lower edges with apertures communicating with a different pocket (4) and the pockets may each be sub-divided into two chambers by a central separation wall. The frame (2) is pref. U-shaped and made of metal. The connection sleeve has a good resistance to breakage with reduced fragility during handling.
