The inlet slot to a coin-operated machine is designed to remove any fast acting adhesive coating spread on the coin to cause jamming of the coin checking mechanism. The inlet slot is formed by a gap between two plates (1,2) that are fixed to a back plate, the gap is inclined to the horizontal to allow the coin to fall into a test section (14). The inner surface of the inlet section has inserts (15,16) of a material with a hard and smooth surface, e.g. glass or sintered bronze. The hard surface and sharp leading edge of the inserts is sufficient to strip any adhesive coating from the surface of a coin. |
