In a sheet bending apparatus, in which a workpiece (X) to be bent by means of a bending bar (32) is clamped between an anvil plate (38) and a clamping member (54), the clamping member is spring loaded by oval spring members (70) which are arranged between pivot bars (62), to which the clamping member is attached, and a handle member (66) pivoted to the upper arms (26) of C- frames (14). The spring force can be adjusted by means of a screw (82) and a wedge (80). This adjustment enables workpieces (X) of different thicknesses to be clamped and the resilience of the spring members (70) compensates for tolerance variations in the workpiece thickness. <IMAGE> |
