PURPOSE:To dispense with a platform by a method wherein a horizontal component force in the east and west direction is operated by using the direction computed by means of a directional gyroscope, an error is detected from the difference between this and the aforesaid horizontal component force in the east and west direction and, based on the output of the detection, the direction detected by the directional gyroscope is corrected. CONSTITUTION:The device is constituted so that the direction obtained by the gyroscope 11 is corrected slowly in accordance with a magnetic direction which is not so excellent in short-time stability but excellent in long-time stability. Geomagnetism in the three-axial direction is detected by a magnetism detector 12 fitted to the body of an airplane and is subjected to coordinate conversion into a local horizontal coordinate system by a coordinate converting part 21. And the value thus obtained is resolved into components of the east-west direction and the north-south direction by the output of the gyroscope 11 and the component of the east-west direction of the horizontal components alone is operated in a resolving part 22, and thereby the direction operated by the output of the gyroscope 11 turns to be corrected slowly into the magnetic direction detected by the magnetism detector 12. Thus, the platform for keeping the magnetism detector 12 horizontal is unnecessitated, which facilitates making the device miniaturized and light in weight. |
