PURPOSE:To reduce the number of a terminal electrode on a gas discharge indicating panel and save many driving circuits, by providing a hollow cathode with a small hole on its area confronting the counterpart cathode. CONSTITUTION:This device is built up in such a way that transparent glass plates 12, 13 composing a front and a back enclosure are provided together with openings 17 of desired dot size on the front glass plate 12 side, small holes 16 are provided while confronting an anodes 15, which is made of nickel or the like, and formed on the back glass 13, cathodes 14 made of nickel or the like, and formed into cylindrical hollow cathodes from single cells, and the anodes 15 are arranged at a certain disstance from the cathodes 14. As ion or the like by which a discharge for scanning is generated, diffuses to a main discharge area through the small holes, a voltage between the anode and the cathode becomes instantaneously lower than a voltage which maintains the discharge for scanning, due to the effect of a hollow cathode discharge, and an erroneous indication may be prevented. |
