PURPOSE:To prevent an accident of catching articles under wheel in leftward turning in particular, by providing a means for detecting the contact of a body with the guard bumper of a vehicle to generate a detection signal and a means for automatically stopping the vehicle in response to the detection signal. CONSTITUTION:An elastic metal plate 4 is provided on an electric insulation spacer 8 on a metal plate 2 which is the main part of a side guard bumper 1 which is provided on the lower section of the side of a vehicle such as an autotruck and functions to prevent accident. Leads l1, l2 are connected to the metal plates 2, 4. The metal plate 4 are coated with a rubber cover 5. A contact detection means is thus installed. When the leads l1, l2 are short-circuited to each other due to the contact of a body with the bumper 1, a switch S1 for a relay L1 is closed and a coil L3 is energized through a normally closed switch S2 and a switch S3 is closed by a plunger P. As a result, a warning lamp L2 and a warning buzzer B are turned on and a solenoid valve EV is shifted by a coil L5 to stop the vehicle. |
