摘要

Collection and neutralisation of obnoxious gases which are produced in the manufacture of cellulose pulp by the sulphate method is described. Condensate from the cooking and bleaching stages are steam treated and the emitted gases are led through a condenser. The condenser is run at 50 deg.C; the uncondensed gases are washed with an alkali soln. and burnt. The condensate contains turpentine and methanol which can be collected. The turpentine can be used to aid the burning of the uncondensed gases (Provisional Basic advised Week D45)
