PURPOSE:To protect an integrated circuit against a rise of temperature by installing a temperature detection circuit for an integrated circuit externally or building it into an integrated circuit. CONSTITUTION:The normal voltage of a silicon diode linearly drops with a temperature rise within a range from -50 deg.C+100 deg.C. Therefore, the said diode can be used as a temperature sensor. If a reference voltage 9 is applied to a plus input of an operating amplifier 10 and a terminal voltage 7 of the diode 6 is applied to a minus input. Then the operating amplifier works as a comparator, controlling a transistor and protecting an integrated circuit 12 against a rise in temperature beyond the level set by a reference voltage. Or CMOS inverter 13 is used as an analog comparator to compare a threshold value voltage with a terminal voltage 7 of the diode 6, controlling P channel FET14. Through this process, an electric current to a load 15 on the integrated circuit 12 is controlled. With this constitution, a practical temperature protector for the integrated circuit is obtained. |
