PURPOSE:To improve the discharge stability and life by using the positive electrode the main component of which is a mixture of an organic donor component, electron transfer complex comprising bromine, and manganese dioxide active material. CONSTITUTION:The main component of the positive electrode 1 is a mixture of an organic donor component, electron transfer complex comprising bromine, and manganese dioxide active material. The negative electrode 2 is made of lithium, and a lithium bromide solid electrolyte layer 5 is formed through a surface contact reaction of the lithium with the positive electrode 1. Thus constituted, the electron transfer complex contained in the positive electrode 1 is served only to form the lithium bromide solid electrolyte generated through a surface contact reaction of the positive and negative electrodes, and the manganese dioxide and lithium are served mainly to the battery reaction. Thus the increase of internal resistance to accompany the discharge is reduced, and a positive electrode can be utilized efficiently. |
