PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic tape having improved durability and running properties together with electromagnetic characteristics such as output, S/N by using a resin contg. a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer contg. specific ratio of vinyl alcohol unit and an epoxy resin as a binder. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic tape is made by using the magnetic paint prepd. by dissolving the binder consisting of a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer contg. 10-20wt% vinyl alcohol unit plus an epoxy resin of 300-2,000mol.wts. in 5- 50wt% of the total amount of said copolymer and this resin, together with a hardener in a solvent and dispersing magnetic powder. The resultant tape has good dispersibility of magnetic powder, less output fluctuations, a high S/N, and better durability, running properties, etc. Further, if low mol.wt. polyisocyanate is added in a suitable amount in the binder, heat resistance, solvent resistance abrasion resistance or the like are more improved. |
