PURPOSE:To obtain a hot rolled mild steel strip capable of being well cold rolled by coiling a hot rolled steel strip at a specified temp. after hot rolling, heat treating the coil under specified conditions, and allowing it to cool. CONSTITUTION:A ferrite stainless steel is hot rolled and coiled at 550-950 deg.C. The coil is put in a heating furnace within 20, more preferably 10min after the coiling, kept at 650-850 deg.C for 10-30min, taken out of the furnace, and allowed to cool. Thus, the whole strip including the coil edges and inner and outer parts is softened to give a hot rolled steel strip fit for cold rolling. A material composition desirable to produce a sufficient effect is as follows; 0.005-0.15% C, <=1.0% Si, <=20% Mn, 14.0-20.0% Cr, <=0.10% N and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. |
