PURPOSE:To improve the SN ratio of the composite signal, by recording the composite signal more emphasizingly when the chrominance signal is smaller at the recording time and by converting said emphasized signal reversely at the reproduction to obtain a reproduced color picture. CONSTITUTION:At the recording time, the composite signal is emphasized much more while the chrominance signal is smaller, and the composite signal is recorded, and the recorded signal is taken out from the recording medium by video head 10 and is separated into the luminance FM signal and low-band conversion composite signal EC by HPF21 and LPF22. After this signal EC has the burst signal amplitude fixed for the purpose of converting reversely the emphasized and recorded signal by automatic gain control circuit 28, signal EC is converted reversely in frequency converting circuit 29 and BPF30 by the continuous wave from BPF38, and time base fluctuation of the reproduced composite color signal is eliminated, and composite color signal ES of the original frequency is obtained. This signal ES is added to the reproduced luminance signal through C type comb line filter 31 by mixer 27 to output the reproduced color video signal to 40. As a result, the SN ratio of the composite signal is improved. |
