发明名称 ELECTRIC DISCHARGE MACHINING APPARATUS
摘要 PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the correction of the infeed in the main feed direction and automate the whole processes of the electric discharge machining by a method wherein the electrode is movably provided on the holder, the electrode wastage is detected by a detecting needle provided on the holder and being insulated from the electrode, and the wastage portion is automatically corrected. CONSTITUTION:The end of an electrode 2 is set at nearly the same position as that of a detecting needle 4, and a three-dimensional machining is performed by an NC apparatus 14. On doing this, the position of the detecting needle 4 is controlled by a pulse motor 8 so that the detecting needle 4 is located on the opposite side to the relative movement direction of the electrode 2 to a workpiece 3. When the end of the electrode 2 has been wasted and the detecting needle 4 contacts to the workpiece 3, a pulse motor 5 is driven to feed the electrode by the order of 1-10mu in order to restore the machining depth to normal and cancel the contact between the detecting needle 4 and the workpiece 3. Repeating the feed of the electrode every time it has been wasted permits an automatic machining without the need for the correction of the infeed in the main feed direction.
