Title compds. (I; R = H, -CO-R1, SO2-R2; R1 = substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, phenyl, phenoxyalkyl; R2 = alkyl, substituted phenyl; A = keto, CH(OH); X = H, -OR; X1 = alkyl, substituted phenyl; Y = CH, N; Z = halo, alkyl, halogenoalkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, amino, cyano, nitro; n = integer 0-5), useful as fungcides and bactericides, were prepd. by reacting 1-bromo-4-(R-Oxy)-butan-2-one(II) with azole (III) in the presence of diluent and acid-coupling agent and by reducing and converting to salt. At 0.025% I protected barley against Erisyphe graminis. Some I were also effective against Xanthomonas oryzae.
