An electrical connector housing (11) has an electrical connector housing element (12) which is constructed integrally, by moulding or casting, with a contact retaining cavity (13) which is open to an attachment surface, and with open-ended, tubular retaining chambers (15, 15') on respectively opposite sides of the cavity (13). A locking element (21) has a pair of parallel arms (22, 22') on whose one end blocking members (24) are provided and whose other end are connected to one another [sic] by means of a transversely running detachment region (25) which can be operated by fingers. The arms (22, 22') are mounted in a snap-action seating such that they can pivot and extend through the corresponding retaining chambers (15, 15'), the detachment region (25) extending behind a rearward surface, and devices (26 or 46), which are resiliently flexible, on the housing element (12) prestressing the arms (22, 22') into the locking position. <IMAGE>
