PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a fire during electric discharge machining by employing an aqueous solution of incombustible polyvalent alcohol of excellent working property as the dielectric fluid used in the electric discharge machining method. CONSTITUTION:Used as the electric discharge machining dielectric fluid is an aqueous solution of polyvalent alcohol with a flashpoint of more than 100 deg.C, e.g., glycerin. Because such an aqueous solution is incombustible, if a mistake is made during electric discharge machining, there is not possibility of occurrence of a fire. Accordingly, unmanned operation is permitted in the electric discharge machining. |
