PURPOSE:To print characters capable of being read easily by a reader by a method wherein each type is placed with its top-bottom direction being in parallel with the axial direction of a type drum, a continuous tag is transferred along cutting lines provided therein and the printing is conducted simultaneously for each row. CONSTITUTION:A transferring mechanism 50 transfers the continuous tag 1 by a predetermined amount on the basis of a command from a data-processing circuit 70. During one full turn of the printing drum 31, information corresponding to one place is simultaneously printed by a printing mechanism. In this case, since the tag 1 is transferred along the cutting line 5, it is not bent at the cutting-line part. Since the top-bottom direction of each type is in parallel with the axial direction of the drum 31, the distance span of types and that of printing hammers in the axial direction are long. Accordingly, the generation of ghost by adjacent types is prevented and vertical staggering of printed characters is prevented from being generated due to errors in timing of the type-striking actions of the hammers. |
