Plane interconnection bars have large input spade connectors and thin pins (2) for wire wrapped outputs. The bars are produced by cutting the assembly from a thin plane metal blank. The blank is 0.6mm thick, the appropriate thickness for wire wrapping posts but the normal thickness of spade connectors is 0.8mm. To compensate for the difference, the spade connectors are corrugated after being cut from the blank. The spades have five ridges pressed into them equally spaced longitudinally to increase the effective thickness to 0.8mm. A hole in the spade engages with a boss pressed into the mating socket to ensure a mechanical locking of the two parts. The socket is a metal plate with its edges folded over to form two gulleys. Two slits are cut across the plane face and a locating boss formed between them. The regularity of the corrugations makes for easy assembly and the parts may be locked by the boss entering the locating hole or falling between ridges in the spade.
|
