Basidiomycetes are aerobically cultured with high yield in a foaming aq. medium contg. yeast ext., peptone, casamino acids, meat juice, sugars and mineral salts or salts, adjusting the vol. of the medium to < 60 % of fermentor capacity, and adding the medium component stepwise according to redn. 26oC on 35 L medium contg. glucose 3 and yeast ext. 0.2 kg in a 50 L tower fermentor equipped with impellers. By 7 days cultivation, 810 g mycelid were obtained, whereas the medium vol. was max. at 25 hr and the yield of mycelia was 550 g because of foaming when cultured on medium.
