<p>Novel mouldable solns. comprise cellulose with a polymerisation degree >=200, an acrylonitrile polymer (I), dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) and HCHO, the wt. ratio of cellulose/(I) being 0.05-1, pref. 0.1-1, of HCHO/cellulose 0.2-2 and the total concn. of the soln. in polymers being 12-30, pref. 18-26%. (I) pref. comprises >=50, esp. >=85 wt.% acrylonitrile and 0-50, pref. 0-15% ethylenic copolymer. The solns. are claimed for producing fibres, filaments, and yarns in which each polymer is in the form of axially oriented and closely intersecting fibrils, with the cellulose macromolecules partially embedded in a crosslinked crystalline network characteristic of cellulose (II), the acrylic fibrils forming the network. The prods. have good mechanical properties, good moisture absorption, good dye affinity and excellent antistaticity. The solns. can also be used for producing films and sheets.</p> |
