The equipment monitors the lowering movement of a hydraulic hoist. Rotation of a rope drum is halted, restricted or freed so that on exceeding the permissible lowering speed or lowering too far a servo-operated and pref. hydraulic arrester halts the load support independently of its drive mechanism. The free end of the rope wound onto the drum is anchored to the load support, while the winch drum (3) is mounted on a separate weighted guide, movable up and down for a limited amount, pref. a hinging beam (8). In the lowermost beam position it acts on a servo control valve (10). The drum is driven by a motor (4) tending to pull the beam into the uppermost position when winding the rope in.
