<p>The electrodes used to heat the material in the furnace consist of molten metal, pref. Pb, Sn, Sb, Bi, Zn, Cd, Te, or their alloys, which may contain other metals. The oxides of the metal electrodes are pref. constituents of the frit, esp. where Pb electrodes are used to melt a frit contg. lead oxide. The ratio of the square root of the surface of the molten bath to its depth is pref. 9-15. The furnace pref. has a constant throughput of molten frit heated using a constant electric current, where the melt is covered by an unmelted layer 1-10, esp. 3-5 mm thick. The material pref. takes 3-6 h to travel through the furnace.</p> |
