Hybrid associative memory for sorting stored data - has extra storage unit permitting house-keeping operations

The memory consists of an associative matrix with numerous fields and a non-associative memory with numerous storage units. The storage units are composed of storage sections corresponding to the associative fields of the matrix such that any one storage section from each storage unit correspond to one another and to the same associative field of the matrix. The contents of each storage section can be transferred to the associated associative field in the matrix. Apart from the storage units for storing general data from files or tables in the base memory at least one additional storage unit is provided to store data and information for simplifying or permitting the utilisation of existing associative surfaces for work processes of the hybrid associative memory. The advantage lies in reducing the number of additional devices needed for monitoring and controlling the degree of filling and for managing lists of parameters and controlling work processes like finding and sorting data.
