PURPOSE:To easily produce a cylinder of superior abrasion resistance and contact- sliding characteristics by using a core having a liner material of superior contact- sliding characteristics melt-sprayed on the surface of a cylindrical core material in casting a cylinder for engines. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder light in weight and superior abrasion resistance and lubricating characteristics used for automotive engines, compressors for coolers, etc. is manufacture of an Al alloy or the like. Since the Al alloy is inferior in abrasion resistance and lubricity, a liner which is superior in these characteristics is formed on the inside surface of the cylinder. In casting the cylinder, a liner material 2 of metals, ceramics or cermet is melt-sprayed on the surface of a cylindrical core material 1 of 0.2-4mm. thickness made of Al or Fe material. This is fitted onto a mandrel 3 and this is used as a core of a cylinder 4 to be casted. After the mandrel 3 is removed, the core material 1 is removed by machining and further the liner material 2 is finished to a required size by honing. |
